Inside the hive podcast rebrand, 2024
Redesign the cover art for Vanity Fair’s podcast, Inside the Hive, to create a sophisticated, nuanced visual identity that reflects the show’s coverage of politics, media, and current events.
The art needed to communicate the podcast's core value: taking audiences straight to the source to uncover the real story behind today’s most notable news events and media-political spectacles, all with incisive opinion and factual integrity. It had to stand out as “not just another news podcast” while keeping the Vanity Fair brand front and center.
In collaboration with illustrator Brian Stauffer, we developed a concept that symbolizes “going inside” to uncover the truth within the complex institutions the podcast explores (or exposes).
The design features stairs within a column, representing the different institutions covered by the podcast. The stairs add depth and layering that invite viewers to “come inside,” while the colors and composition clearly signal a focus on American politics and media and their influence on today’s most complex stories.
The updated artwork was integrated across all audio platforms and reformatted for promotional materials. We also created a moving image version for social, knowing video performs stronger for audience engagement. Together, these assets reinforced the podcast’s refreshed identity across channels.
